Email Outage Update

Cox technicians are continuing their work to restore service to those customers affected by an email outage that started Friday evening. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and will notify you as soon as services are restored. Our next update will be at 6 a.m. ET if services are not restored by then.

Is there any estimate on how long it will take to finish the assessment and fix the problem? The e-mail has been down since 7 something.

It is start of the weekend. I guess we can't expect them to work on it during the weekend.

The outage appears to be only with email services, including webmail. All other internet services have been working, although it's slow as c-r-a-p, which is pretty much normal. Cox should put a link on their main page that customers can click to see the current system status. It's a pain in the azz to navigate through a bunch of slow-azz windows in the help section, only to see a message that all customer service reps are busy, then you have to log in to the support forum to see that other customers are having problems.

Give the Cox girls (the owners, you know it's a privately held company) a brake. They could buy the state of Arizona but they can't put dime into the company. Outdated servers and a staff that's fed up with a mismanaged private Daddy left it to me employer.  ATT here I come!!! Even if I have to go to DSL for internet mail. Tried of Cox high prices and lack of company service. They make be the only cable company in town...an they act that way!!!! Screw the customer is their motto.

I just spoke to a Cox technician on the East Coast, and was told email would not be up before 9 am Eastern time at the earliest and that it's a hardware problem.

You know, Cox, if you're reading this, a simple status update on the cox home page would not only let customers know what's going on but would reduce the calling to your support center and increase customer good will.

Plus, didn't you people ever hear about redundant and distributed hardware and software systems?  These were in existence decades ago, precisely to prevent this type of downtime.

My e-mail has been out since about 5 PM--and no joy contacting customer support by live chat or phone.  It is now almost 4 AM and this borders on 11 hours.  I have both personal and business which is critical on e-mail via Cox.  This is not acceptable.   But nothing one can do about it!

www.websitedown.info/webmail.central.cox.net  That web site will tell you if the email for the central region is up or down.  If you just go there like I've been doing, it auto checks if its up or not.  In case you don't want to keep coming to the forums.
