I have blocked one email address but would like to automatically send them a message back saying it was blocked. Is this possible?

Edward, I am referring to the settings and controls that Cox has on the webmail site. I have one email address blocked because that person is a pain in the you know what. However they continue to send argumentative messages and they do not know that I generally do not read them and they are blocked. This person gets their joy from disagreements and voicing a negative message. I have told them that I have blocked them a couple of years ago, but they think I am just ignoring their messages. It would be nice to have a system where Cox would return their message indicating that it has been blocked.

I don't think you can set up a reply rule with a block rule, but you could just forward rule along with a reply, and then just forward the email to a invalid email, like test@xoc.com

I guess I don't understand your response Health Edge.

Sorry it wasn't very clear. I typed it fast while having some coffee. :-)
I thought you could forward email and send reply message via Webmail > Settings > Message Filters, but I guess it's not possible. You could do it as a vacation message, but that would effect all incoming, not just one specific email. Sorry for the confusion.

I'd urge restraint with regards to setting up any sort of rule to auto-forward to a black hole email address. Sending lots of email to invalid addresses will get you flagged as being a spammer thus you'll create a bigger problem for yourself than the one you originally started with.

I was just suggesting it as a work around. I don't have the problem myself.

Indeed the logic as a workaround is sound however one statistic spam blockers look at is the number of attempts to send email to an unknown/invalid email address. Should you cross that threshold all of your outgoing email ends up in Charlie Brown's spam eating tree.

Your right. I guess the only solution is to use Gmail or some other client with more options. Thats the main reason I don't have the problem. Cox email looks to be having all kinds of issues these days.

What I ended up doing ( a bit of work however) was to reply using a from "Postmaster" email address claiming the message was blocked.
