I have a cox preferred account that is supposed to provide 50 mbps download speed. When I use speed-test.cox to measure it, I get only ~25mbps while speedcheck.cox gives me 50mbps. Other online sources (Ookla) measure the download speed st 30 - 35 mbps. I connect to the modem thru a router, and have replaced the old one with no change in the resulting download speed measurements. I am very curious about this........any ideas??

First thing I would try is bypassing the router and connecting direct to the modem. What are your speeds then?
Also, what kind of modem and router do you have?

I'm with Health Edge on the idea of trying without the router. I'm seeing some indications from this end that it may be a legacy model and might not be suitable for the Internet speeds now being offered.

Health Edge and Chris L...........
I have tried connecting directly to modem, bypassing new router (Netgear), without any change in results. The modem is the high-speed device supplied/installed by Cox.

When was the last time you tried this? Did you push the reset button after connecting the new device?
