We just bought a DOCSIS 3.0 modem yesterday and now our Airport Exreme router does not work. I read on an MAC forum that the problem is caused because we are hooking a router to a router. Cox needs to put the Gateway in "passive mode" to act as a modem, not a router. Someone else posted a similar reply. The modem needs to be placed in a "bridge mode."
Can Cox Tech Support do this?

I looked from here and it appears what you got was a stand-alone DOCSIS 3.0 modem. Because these devices are bridges, bridge mode is the only mode they will operate in. I'd suggest resetting the modem and airport to see if that helps or it might be necessary to re-run the airport setup.
