Directv OnDemand

Why does cox limit the ability to use DirecTV on demand? I have a 75$ bill and test out at 60mb. Yet the on demand will not only not stream it takes 24 hours to download a half hour show! Never had these problems before or with Comcast or Verizon. Thanks,

I haven't heard of any complaints before with Cox blocking DirectTV ondemand. Could you explain how you have it connected?

With an Ethernet cable of which I have tried more than one. The cox modem is a cisco and my router is a Cisco. The various connections, Ethernet from modem to genie, from router to genie, from router to switch to genie have been tested at 60 mb with a laptop connected. If it is cox it is outside my network. Which makes sense it would be stupid on their part to allow me to prove it was limited. Direct tv only says reset the box. But it doesn't do anything.

What model Cisco modem do you have?

Could you explain the different devices you have for your setup? I found this site and it shows a Wireless connection device and some kind of MoCA adapter. Is this required to use Direct TV Cinema (their on demand) service? Or is this just for people who need a wireless connection?

I found a forum thread with a good troubleshooting guide. Take note of the different diagnostics tests you can run that might show the problem. Watch out though, this is not reading for the novice. Even my head was spinning after reading it.

Can you watch DTV Cinema via a computer? If so, how well does that work? If its fast via computer, but slow via Genie, then my guess is its some kind of issue with the genie. I just don't know what.

DPC3010. I do not have cinema. Considered a wireless genie remote but don't need it yet. Besides the DTV dish splitter power and connections are fine. Rock solid. Tuned it my self as the DTV guy could only get close. I intervened and the genie connected. Basically point to 101 and dither 99 and 103. I don't care about the others as most of what I care about is not on them and I don't speak Spanish. The problem is after my network or in the genie I think. As I cannot see any problems while sniffing my network. Nor do I see problems with anything I stream over appletv or roku. Same network and pretty much the same streaming. Although DTV quality should be better. At the very least when downloading which is what I prefer so I can watch when I want. Not when they decide to show it. That forum thread is for comm between the genie boxes or more suited for whole home between the dvr series. If I have something recorded I can see it fine. My networks DTV or Ethernet are stable.

Sorry, I just don't know enough about DTV to be helpful then. Did the best I could. If anyone else wants to post feel free.

If your speeds consistently test good that suggests the possibility that the performance issue may lie on their end.  Have you reached out to them at all to see if they have any suggestions?
