Daily outages
For the past three days, my service has been interrupted and I have had to re-boot my modem. The modem is a Cisco DPC3010 that is about 3 years old and was installed by a Cox serviceman. Is there a need for a firmware update across the community or some other fix due to the recent Cisco advisory about a hacker exploit.
See http://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/ciscosa-20140716-cm
I did a full scan on my PC and did not detect a virus.

Sounds like you need to call Cox and set up a service call if it's a repeated issue. But first make sure all your connections are tight, unscrew them and put them back on. Remember to write down the name of anyone you talk to, what they said, what they did, and keep a record of it. It will be useful when/if you have to call them back numerous times for the same issue.
