C-Span

We have the essential package for TV and according to lineup for that service we should be getting the C-Span channels yet I cant get to any of them. Why? We did the auto tuning so as it goes through all the channels it adds it to our available list.

@force113

My understanding is this is a switched digital video channel in your areas as well as many others.  It is included with your package however it would require a SDV capable device to tune it such as a Tivo w/tuning adapter for example.

A few years back we were able to get these. I think it's *** that Cox requires something that would cost the user more money to shell out for especially these channels seeing they are government channels. You would think they would want the public more involved with the politics of this country but I guess they want to keep people stupid but if they want to be more involved it'll cost you money. Between our internet and tv our monthly bill is $152.76 so you would think they could at least give us channels we had in the past instead of limiting them. We were thinking about looking into dish tv and it's looking more and more possible we will do that. If we can cut our monthly output on bills and get the same type of product why not? Being seniors we need to try and make our dollar stretch and hate companies who nickel and dime their customers to death.

Check the little notations in the listing. The C-SPAN channels are digital and require a STB. What is your zip code?

We are in Las Vegas. 89121. Cox has made so many changes and increased their prices that I think it's time to look elsewhere. We have been with them for well over 14 yrs and they are more concerned about adding new services and products and apparently don't care about keeping their customers. Being seniors and on a fixed income and everything going up one has to start looking at cutting costs. It's ashamed that companies have forgotten who keeps their lights on and then they wonder why their profits are shrinking.

See the triangles next to C-SPAN, C-SPAN2, and C-SPAN3? That means that those channels require a STB.
