cox cloud drive

I just sign up for Cox Cloud Drive just to find is so slow as to be unusable.  My transfer rate was 133k.

Is it Cox or me?

I have a docsis 3 modem recommended by Cox.

Hello TiffanyR,

My modem is on a power strip.  However it is a high quality strip with 12 gauge wire and a solid connection to the outlet.

When I do a speed test on Cox I get 55-58 download consistently and 7-8 upload consistently.

I will test the outlet and the plug strip with my meter and see what I come up with........

Just so you know it's not necessarily the quality that could be the issue, it sounds like you have one of the better made power strips there.  What we often see happen however is if you have too much power draw from the attached devices the can compete with each other for power taking away what is needed for others causing effects similar to brown outs.

I plugged the modem into the wall outlet and disconnected or shut off everything except 1 monitor, the cpu and the modem.

Speed is maybe 150k.

I don't think the issue is my equipment.  I show no slow downs any other time.  Even when streaming Netflix on 3 devices.  And I am wired to a gigabit network.

ONLY ON COX CLOUD DRIVE.......

I attempted to use the Cloud yesterday...nothing but problems; freezes, errors, incomplete backup, uses way too many resources even on the slowest bandwidth setting. I experienced the exact same problems with their free internet security. I use Cox solely for their connection speed. These related,  'free' services are not worth your troubles. I'll stay with my paid online backup service; no faith in Cox.

Hi PatJ, thank you for the feedback on using the Cloud service. I forwarded your comments to our network programming team.
