Controlling Contour 2 with IR Remote

According to some forum posts here it seems like it might be possible to control the Contour 2 box with a separate universal remote that uses IR.

Does anyone have any experience trying to do this?  How did you get it to work?

I am using a Harmony remote and I can't get it to respond to a single command, tried a bunch of different devices in the setup.  Logitech support says there is an IR receiver that I might need to get but I can't find any record of that being something I can buy from Cox?  Maybe there is a 3rd party one that works?
