Contour and DLNA
Hi,
I have seen other posts regarding this hookup. The reply has always been that only the playstation 3 works to view Contour 6 DVR files. I can tell you that POWERDVD ULTRA 14 also works to view DVR videos on the PC. It would be nice now if COX would loosen the CCI Byte Flag to permit copies other that once. Then we could offload DVR Files to an External Hard Disk.
I also have an Hauppauge TV Card in a computer with I access through Windows Media Center to do recordings of Clear QAM broadcasts which include most of the popular programs anyway. I then can access those recordings through my Plex Media server and Plex Android App while I'm sitting in my car away from my home.
It would be just absolutely fantastic if Cox would implement that feature in Contour. It would be a great selling point for Cox Cable, but you probably don't care since you have a virtual monopoly anyway.

This has come up several times before, and I have never gotten a solid answer, but are Cox's programming agreements national, or different from market to market? I happen to live in RI, where Cox doesn't use copy protection. Why is RI and some other markets special?

But "why" do they differ? Seems weird that a broadcaster would want copyright in one state, but not another. Is it a money thing? Competition? Something to do with the FCC?

Hello Health Edge,
We try to be as transparent as possible to all of our customers. In this case, Stephanie is correct. Unless there is a public announcement, all negotiations are held privately. In Verizon's case, we will not know any details about their agreements either unless it is made public.
