CONSTANTLY having to reboot my router!!!!!

I have had to reboot my router at least 2x everyday for the past week. I call for tech support and I get  automated instruction. I can't get the thing to work and I'm ready to cancel. I reboot, it works for a while and then I get kicked off and have to keep repeating this. And is there compensation for the inconvenience? Cox charges fees and you just have to pay them......what happens when it's their turn to make things right?

TLM, do you have a gateway or separate modem & router?  What model(s)?  Are you connected wired or wireless?  If wireless, have you tried a wired connection?  Are you kicked off a wired connection?  Also, any other additional information about your issue will help narrow it down.

Thank you for responding.....

I have a Netgear that I rent from COX. I have had it for a few months and never had an issue until the last 3 weeks or so. I only have internet, no cable or telephone - strictly on wifi. Again, never had a problem until now.

I stream my tv thru an Amazon Firetv Stick that is plugged into the tv and into the wall - never had a problem until now. I thought it was the Amazon stick and have reset/unplugged it and tried again and have realized that the Amazon stick is not the issue, as we also get kicked off our laptops and iPad.

Suggestions?

They will ask questions and make suggestions but nothing will work.  Everyone is having this same problem and as long as the money keeps rolling in, Cox couldn't care less.

Disregard tsteph. He/She is copy/pasting the same reply into all new threads.

As for OP, what do you mean when you say the Amazon stick is connected to the wall? Do you have wall Ethernet outlets?

No there is no Ethernet. Everything has a power cord to a regular outlet, but no Ethernet cords - as we do not have cable, land line telephone or a desktop computer to plug into. We are strictly wifi and it has worked fine. I'm not changing my setup. It isn't on my end.

Only the posts that confirm my suspicion that this issue is being caused by Cox's failure to keep up with expanding demand on its infrastructure.

@tsteph Please only post if you have something constructive to say about the topic. Posting that you don't like Cox in every thread, probably because you had a bad experience, is selfish and childish IMO. Do you think it will help anything?

What data do you have to support this? You haven't even posted what kind of router you have.

I have the kind of router COX brought me because they are the experts.........yes, I did post it, right after I was asked actually.

The "evidence" I have is time and the circumstances.

I dont like repeating myself so try reading and you will find the answers.

TLM, please calm down ... everyone who posted to this thread so far are customers like you, not employees of Cox.  We are just trying to help.  You replied to my question "I have a Netgear that I rent from COX."  Netgear is a manufacturer, I think what Health Edge was asking was what model Netgear do you have.  At this point we don't even know if you have a gateway (modem/router in one unit) or a separate modem & router.  When asked about a wired connection we are just trying to narrow the issue down to a modem/cable problem or a router/WiFi problem.  Suggestions are different depending on where the problem lies.  Nobody is asking you to change your setup, just try a wired connection to your laptop and see if that goes out at the same time WiFi connections fail.  Anything to help narrow the issue.

You posted yesterday that all was working ... is that still true?  Is your network stable again?

You are correct sir, and I apologize.

It IS still stable ...... Kind of - other than Netflix lagging here and there...... the speed I pay for is more than adequate for streaming so thet is frustrating as well.

Since the morning I first posted, I have only needed to reset the system once and that was about an hour after the post. Is it just me or is it strange that there is a support forum and it is all customers.............no actual cox support available on the forum? Seems like it may be an avenue to monitor customers a little more closely (and even make adjustments to their speed) abut not have to deal with them directly........idk but it just seems a little too coincidental as far as how my situation worked out......althou I will still continue to lean on them if my Netflix and Amazon Prime keep lagging. There is no readon for it.

Glad it's still stable.  Cox employees do moderate this board, I have no idea why nobody from Cox has chimed it here.

Anyway, if you want help with your streaming issue the first thing to determine is if the lag is from the cable end, WiFi end or something in-between.  If you are using the 2.4GHz band for WiFi, interference from other networks, cordless phones, microwave ovens, etc could cause the problem.  Not saying that is the issue, we are just guessing until we get more info.
