cnf9?

I plugged the cord back into the cable box after I reset it, and now I am getting this message that says cnf9. I have looked it up, and it says that it is trying to do a network reset, but the cnf9 message has been there for a week. Every one in a while the message also changes to "OCAP-Usb".

Hi Brian,

Is the coax cable connected directly from the cable outlet to the box, or is there a splitter attached? Please check that all connections are tight. If there is a splitter, please bypass the splitter to have a direct connection and let us know the results.

Thank you,

My Contour 2 box also does that.

The problem is sporadic, but what happens is the box suddenly restarting (often while I am watching something).

During the restart, messages such as yours appears and it can be unresponsive for up to an hour. Unplugging it does not help, so I doubt heat is the issue.

I see on the forum that we are hardly alone with this issue and I am dubious that scheduling a swap will improve anything -- only loose whats been recorded.

FYI: My box has a direct coax connection to the wall (No splitter). I don't have any signal issues (several Cox techs have checked) and no other devices have any issues with the surge protector its connected to.

No such device. DVRs which use the Contour IPG are Cisco's 9865HDC, and Cisco's 8642HDC/8742HDC.

Different devices react differently to AC power changes. Just to be sure, plug your DVR directly into a wall socket and see if the problem persists.
