Cisco Explorer B642HDC hung on CNF9 for (ummmm....) weeks

It will go through the reboot process on its own once or twice a day but it always hangs here. About a year ago, when I was having problems with this line (pretty sure they gave me a new box and did an unbelievable jury-rig with splitter-amps-filters to get me a signal at this one location/box) the tech who came out finally said to the person from Cox support that he was talking to on the phone that there was actually no channel lineup mapped (in the system) to my box. So while the machine was trying to download the channel guide, it wasn't finding anything to download. Could that have happened again?

I have followed the directions in responses to other emails re: straight connection on power and cable (no good, no change) so I'm hoping for something else. Even a reset of the box from the local service center might help.....

Further context, just in case this helps -- for the second year in a row, I am not getting ESPN game plan on any of my TVs. So clearly something is squirrelly with my signal or electricity or both somewhere. In the line.

Anyway, any thoughts or help appreciated.

cnF9 is the "loading" part of the STB booting process. It takes 15-30 minutes - often longer - to clear. Interrupting the boot process during the data loading period is a bad thing. Try unplugging it over-night (coax too), then plugging it in again first thing in the morning. Don't interrupt it while the cnF9 is loading.

As for why it keeps re-booting, poor AC power is the likely cause. When you re-apply power in the morning, try plugging the DVR straight into a different AC outlet than you currently use.

Tried your suggestions, which were in part repetitive to what I had tried previously, and no luck. Still hanging on cnF9. And the only time I interrupt the boot process is when it's been stuck on cnF9 for a couple of days.

But I truly do appreciate the help. I'm going to try and run the power off of the power conditioner for the audio system (not just a strip, more than a surge protector). After that, I'm going to try and run the cable from one of the boxes that work to see if this is a box problem, or a cable line problem.

I see that you've had a service call for this, and all of your receivers appear to be online. How is everything working now?

Update. Cox Service spent 4.5 hours at my place on Saturday, turned out to be a problem between my account in the computers and then how the system was talking to my boxes here at home. The service tech was terrific. Kind of pitiful that he has to wait for his service counterpart on the phone just as long as I have to wait when I call service. And clearly if it took 4.5 hours to track down it wasn't trivial. So thanks for all of the suggestions and support here, I am delighted to have found this resource. I am back up and doing great as of Saturday 5:30 pm.
