Changing Wireless Router

I have a Cox ARRIS TM402P/110 cable modem.  I am changing from an old Linksys router to a Belkin N600 DB router.  Do I need to call COX to have them set something in the modem to allow this new router to connect to the cable modem?  I am not sure if COX locks in the security to allow only the MAC address of the old router.

Hi Ham 64,

You would not have to contact us in order to connect the modem to your new router.  You will, however, need to reset the cable modem.  Because it is a telephony modem you will have to reset it by a button or pinhole that is located on the modem.  I recommend resetting the modem prior to connecting the ethernet cable to your new router.  Once the modem has synchronized it will assign an IP to the router and you will be good to go!
