Changing phone to only fax

do you have a fax machine?  You do not need a new number for faxing.

I would recommend getting a basic phone package if you're strictly going to use it for a fax. You may want to look into adding long distance as well, if you plan on faxing to out of area codes. You don't need to change your phone number unless you prefer to do so. Hope this information helps. 

Just to be clear, there is no technical difference between a fax line and a phone line. Its just what sound the line is carrying. Sound of someone's voice or the sound of a fax machine. The main difference is what  features come with that phone line and you not wanting to pay for things you don't need.

If you are looking to use the phone line with the fax, there is a distinctive ring feature that is cheaper than adding an extra line. It allows one phone line to be assigned two phone numbers. You can identify incoming callers by using a separate, unique ring (two fast rings) for the second number. It can be used for a fax machine and is the easy way to keep business and personal calls apart.
