Changing Connected via Cable to Wifi
When I subscribed to Cox, the installer stated I didn't have to have the cable, as my unit has Wifi. He told me what I would need to do to remove the cable and use the wifi. At that time, I wasn't interested. But now I have some devices that will need to have wifi to tranfer readings to the site.
How do I change my Cox home unit from cable to Wifi??

What unit or gateway do you have? Do you see any wireless networks around you?

I have the Netgear Gateway that is provided by Cox. There are 2 wireless connections around me, and both show 5 bars.

With the Netgear Gateways you would have a label printed on it with the default SSID (Network Name) and a WPA key which would be the default password for the wireless.
If you want to change the information you would either need to be wired to it (which is recommended to not cause problems reconnecting) or signed in wirelessly and pull up your browser and go to http://192.168.0.1 and login on that page with "admin" as the user name and "password" as the password.
From the setup screen for Netgear you will see a Wireless settings link on the left that will allow you to set up your own Network name, and your own password/passcode. We do recommend leaving the password type as WPA2 for security reasons.
