Yes, and I recommend that you do it this way. My tuning adapter took nearly two hours to boot up (LED stops blinking) the first time I powered it up, I presume due to a software update.  When I called the Cox cablecard activation number after the tuning adapter was ready the first question they asked was about the state of the TA. It only took another ten minutes to complete the activation.  Would have been a long phone call otherwise...

Becky   I mean since Omaha is now using TA's can we run coax to it and the tivo at the same time?    Hust not plug the usb from the tuning adapter into the tivo until the card is activated.  moving from  dual tuner tivo's to quad tuner basic roamio Tivo's

Becky that explains it thanks you for the link.  I see it says the cable only needs to be split if moca is being used.  Is this correct?  Can I use the rfout of the tuning adapter and plug it into the Tivo?

How did you connect your Premiere to the Tuning Adapter?

Most everyone at TiVo Community Forums would agree that with a Motorola Tuning Adapter, you should use a 2-way splitter, when ever possible.

You just need to make sure that your signal is strong enough that the -3.5dB drop will not impact your signal quality.

The Cisco Tuning Adapter actually has an integrated signal amp so using the RF In to RF Out is my preference when not using MoCA.

That would explain some of the conflicting advice I have seen on some saying to use a splitter and some saying to don't. I did not know the adapter had a amp. I assume it's a passive amp? If so, then whether you want to use a splitter or not would some what depend on what signal your starting off with at the wire. Too high and your over amping at the cost of Tx/Oob and SNR. If you have too little and use a splitter, then the incoming signal is too low. Thanks for the info.

AFTER!  My Cox TA installation instructions and the Cox CC activation tech say you do this as the very last step after both the TA and CC have been activated.
