The CC (closed captioning) key on the Cox 8820 remote does not do anything. Quoting Cox, "this function is expected to be available by mid-2011". It is fall 2012. Does anyone know when this function will be available? Thank you.

Press the blue button "COX" in the middle of the remote. You can enter the menu and customize your settings.
Roll down and you can see the "Caption" option. Roll right and you can set the caption status "on".
Congratulations~You get your caption on the screen now~

This CC button does not work on my 8820 remote with the Trio/WHole House DVR. This is another example of Cox's "advanced TV" not being very advanced. It takes 15 button presses to acticate CC thru the menus.

AGREED! But it really only takes 10 button presses.
Once the menu has been set to activate CC, the CC button should toggle CC on and off. But it doesn't. C'MON COX!

How hard can this be? Come on COX - this is supposed to be "advanced" TV.
