Caller ID not showing on tv
Cox tech chat line, actual person on the phone and the onsite tech that's here right now still can't figure out why my caller ID isn't working. He original came today to exchanged the cable box that was not powering up. I had a small black cable box now I have a giant silver cable box mfr. 2006 scientific Atlanta 8300 - I'm not a happy camper right now - the guide is smaller on the tv and now there a delay when the picture comes up when I switch Chanel's - ugh -

I had the same problem. As a last resort, Phone Support "recycled my occurrence" and it finally worked. I don't know what's an occurrence. Tech said, " i removed your occurrence and then reestablished it."
Have Cox try that.

A "occurrence" is the type of service assigned to equipment. A cable box will have a C(cable occurrence), D(Data), or T(Telephone). Some like phone modems have phone D and T occurrences. Adding a occurrence starts an automated process in the provisioning system that creates the information that loads on the box. I think Cox's system pulls info from the phone system when it first loads the box, and if/when that phone info changes, the only way to reload it is starting the process over again. If your curious what it all looks like see page 45 of ICOMS manual. Ahh the good ol' days.
Short answer; it's another way of rebooting your box. Can help with weird EOD issues too.

Just curious.. was this ever resolved? Did the reloading of the occurrence fix the issue?

10 cool points no ticket was entered. Sounds like another contractor. I think contracting and outsourcing is the worst part of Cox. I want my "friend" in the digital age to be local.
