Call Blocking

Telemarketers and telephone scam artists are the cash cow for companies that sell blocking devices and services.  The ability to spoof a different number enables some to get around call blocking which targets specific numbers... it would seem that there's ready technology to disable calls from spoofed numbers but again, those types of unwanted calls present an opportunity to upsell blocking devices and call rejection features so I wouldn't hold my breath for any phone company to willingly step up and deal with the problem in any meaningful way.  I do have anonymous call blocking but that still allows around one-third of such calls through. 

You could register with the federal Do Not Call list but after diligently registering and reporting call after call for as long as the list has existed I have concluded that the purpose is nothing more than a placebo button to placate sheep like mentalities into supposing that the law is being enforced when the purpose of the list and reporting feature effectively enables it to not be enforced.  Sorry about the rant.

Cox lets you block 29 numbers if you pay for their "selective call rejection" feature. Another poster recommended the new Panasonic phone which blocks 250 numbers. I followed their advice and bought it  ( i do not work for Panasonic or promote their products online).  It really works. Model KX-TG7872. 

Almost half of all the spam calls are from "spoofed" numbers. The callers are in Russia or India but the caller ID says "Seattle, WA".
