Cable Modem's Coax Port Very Hot: Cox Moderator Not Needed

In the search to figure out my Internet woes (since Cox has been unable to find the issue), I noticed that my cable modem coax port is very hot. Noticeably and quite unusually hot. I've had several cable modems, and while the casing my heat up a bit, etc. the coax port was never this hot. I have the Arris SB6183 at the moment, and my uncorrectables (see my other thread) have been either high across all channels, or insanely high (in the millions) across two specific channels. Any help is much appreciated.
