I've noticed a number of digital-to-analog convertor boxes for sale on Amazon at reasonable prices. I'd prefer to buy one from them rather than pay $3 per month to Cox for a rental. Can these 3rd party convertor boxes be used?

Without knowing exactly what equipment you're viewing on Amazon I can only guess these are Over The Air (OTA) digital to analog converters intended to be used with a digital antenna. These converters are not compatible with our cable system (and likely not compatible with any cable system.) The Cox Mini Box is designed to work within our network.
