Blinking Receive Light on Modem

I did a self install yesterday, and I have a blinking receive light on my modem. I am using a Motorolla SB6121. I tried plugging it into every single cable outlet in the house, and changing the coax cable. Cox of course doesn't know whats going on. Does anyone know what the issue may be?

Thats means your not receiving any, or not enough, cable signal coming into the house. Do you have other services already with Cox? Has the technician been to your pole yet to connect you? Are you just moving in? Can you give us some background?

No I selected to do a self install. I have been using centurylink prior to this. There hasn't been a tech to come out, but I thought that was the whole idea of doing a self install?

You had CenturyLink at that house before? If so..I don't think your eligable for Cox. They can't be on the same cable line.

If you mean you had them at the old house, then who did the previous resident have at the new house? Im guessing Dish or some other provider. A self install is only going to work if you have Cox cable signal coming from the street to the house, and the correct wiring from the outside of house to the cable outlet you want to use. Cox can't always tell if you have it, because they don't know what the previous occupants may had done by a different company.

Give Cox a call and if they can't confirm that you have available service there it will be a tech call.
