Beware when ordering online: Got Contour but didn't order it; didn't get other features I DID order

I recently ordered Cox service.  I selected the Silver Bundle.  When selecting TV features online, if you select Contour service, you are forced to select the 6 DVR option.  I have no desire to pay $10/month more for recommendations or a 6 tuner DVR.  I selected TV without Contour along with the regular HD DVR.   When the tech came out and installed the service, the Contour guide was on the screen.  I asked him if that meant I had it even though I did not select it online.  He told me no, that the guides all say Contour now.  I also do not have a six tuner DVR so I thought I was okay.  Well, when I looked at my bill, I noticed I was being charged for Contour service.  According to how online ordering works, that would also mean I could record six shows at once, which is impossible since I don't have a 6 tuner DVR.

I contacted customer service, and while they were very nice, none of the people I spoke to over the 90+ minutes I was on the phone could see the details of my original online order.  I explained to them that I was being charged for Contour, even though I didn't order it.  That also meant I should have a 6 tuner DVR (when selecting Contour online, a 6 tuner DVR is the only option) which they confirmed I did not have.  They were going to credit me 12 months of Contour service but I have no desire to pay for it next year either.  So a tech is coming out to replace the Contour box with a standard HD DVR.

I notice the Silver Bundle is no longer online.  So I was messing around to see what the cost would be for the Gold bundle with and without Contour.  Well, it turns out if you order it online (today at least), the pricing is the same!  Long story short, their online ordering is mis-leading.  You can end up getting things you clearly did not select and not get things you did select.  An example of the latter:  I ordered the sports package and NFL Red Zone as well as voicemail and NONE of these options were included with my service and customer service could not see it on my order.  I am not getting charged for them and I don't really want them now, but there is something seriously wrong with Cox online ordering if my ordered was screwed up this bad.

The "Trio" EPG has been renamed "Contour", and the Contour name now appears on all Trio guides. If you get a Cisco 8642HDC or 8742HDC DVR (both are 2-tuner DVRs) you will NOT be getting the "Contour" service, but the guide will be badged as "Contour." You will NOT have access with the new Ipad/iPhone app.

I have the 8642HDC.  I have the "Recommendations" option and there are green diamonds in the guide recommending shows for me to watch.  I thought that is what Contour is.  Either way, I'm getting charged $10/month for it when I never ordered it.

The "RECOMMENDATIONS" options and the green diamonds were added to TRIO in December of 2012. I have no idea what you are being charged $10 for.

To clarify, all new customers are setup with the 6-tuner Contour package in a effort to provide the best viewing experience possible.  If you aren't needing this package we have other options although it is usually best to speak with our sales team for those.
