Just wondering why I am paying $40 a month for Cox phone service that won't block robocalls or "unavailable" and "unknown" when I can port my number to Ooma and others and pay about $10 a month with better blocking. It is unfortunate that Cox has no position on this.

Cox has stated their "position" that they do not like robocalls. They offer a Selective Call Rejection for apx $5 a month that lets you block 30 numbers.
You can read the many posts on this forum that 30 is not nearly enuf ..... and the Rejection feature won't block "unknown" "unavailable" "out of area" or any 800 toll free numbers. If you visit the forums for any of the phone providers, the complaints are the same---- blocking robocalls and spammers and scammers is not a high priority for the company.
@CLE, you do know that some manufacturers sell home phones that let you block 300 numbers. They cost $80. I bought one. Only you can decide if the cost is worth it. I had already filled my Cox Selective Call Rejection .... only took me 3 days to fill it.
