I have a receiver/tuner that I have hooked up to my TV. I can play music, etc, to speakers on my deck and patio. Since everything has gone to digital, I cannot get the music piped through to my speakers. Question is, do I need to have a different cable, such as an HDMI, to connect to my receiver/tuner? Currently I have the plug in jack cables.

First off, what make/model AVR are you using? TV? What do you mean by "plug in jack cables"? Are they analog RCA plugs ... red and white plugs for 2 channel? Are you using a multi-zone setup where your deck is zone 2, if your AVR supports it? How is everything connected? More info is definitely needed.

Why is this question titled Amp? A power amp is different than a Audio-Video Receiver.
If you can connect whatever the source of your music is...you didn't specify...with an HDMI cable, use an HDMI cable. The best audio connection is typically digital.
If you don't want to purchase additional cables, you can connect your source via "plug in jack cables"...which I assume are RCA...to the Digital In Coaxial inputs on your receiver-tuner.
Your source will now be digital, so ensure you select it as a digital input...as opposed to your previous analog input.
