Sorry but no, you can't copy recorded shows to a replacement DVR. Maybe she can watch some of the recorded stuff on demand.

jer3: "I have the 6 tuner DVR from Cox. However, it appears to be malfunctioning and I would like to get it replaced. However, my wife can't let it go because she has not viewed the recorded shows on it. Is there a way to load the recorded shows from existing DVR into the new DVR so we will not lose them?."
No. What is your present one doing? Odds are, it's not the DVR.

AllenP is correct in that these shows cannot be transferred to another DVR. What issues are you experiencing with the DVR? Have you contacted us to troubleshoot or scheduled a tech yet?

It's malfunctioning, but you say, "Odds are, it's not the DVR." What do you think it could be?

Without a description of what's occurring it's difficult to say.

Domino,
I don't know what it's doing. You made the comment, "Odds are, it's not the DVR," right after the OP said it was "malfunctioning." I'm just following up on your comment and asking you what the fix might be since odds are, it's not the DVR.

No, I wrote: "What is your present one doing? Odds are, it's not the DVR." The OP chose not to specify what he meant by "malfunctioning" despite multiple requests. Without knowing the symptom, it's impossible to diagnose the problem. And YOUR reason for butting in is...??

What happens when you plug in the power? Do you have WHDVR? If so, does it do the same thing with all cables removed from the 9865HDC? [What does "pretty much nothing" mean? Maybe Trump did something to it.

Hello "jer3"... Sorry, but, NO... The ONLY way to save ANY of the recorded how would be to burn them onto DVD disc- via a separate DVR device.. Those programs that the Cisco unit will allow you to, that is... I bought into the so-called "upgrade" in June of 2014, AFTER being told by a Cox store manager- AND a "tech support" on the phone- that YES, I WOULD be able to save my recorded shows... Found out that was NOT the case when the tech came out to "install" the so-called upgrade.
So-called because- other than the extra channels/recording space- there is NOTHING "upgraded" about it. In fact, there are several functions that the 3-channel unit has that apparently couldn't fit on the "upgrade". And, not only that, but I had such recurring issues with it that I finally had to order another one- because nobody @Cox had a clue what was causing the issues... Things like "No signal" messages when 1st turning the unit on- until clicking it off then back on- & being able to burn programs recorded from some channels, but, NOT others. As in the recording onto discs as I mentioned before as to saving your wife's programs... Something I was able to do regularly from EVERY channel- including PPV- on the "downgrade" unit.
I've called several times- left complaint messages on their website's "Contact Us" section with nary a single reply- in a year's time... And I've been a Cox customer for 13 years on THIS account alone, & +/-20 years all total... But THAT appears to not matter to them.

From jer3. Thank you all for your help. A question came up what my malfunction was. The malfunction is when TV and dvr are off and my wife wants to watch the bachelorette, she turns tv on and then the dvr. She waits and finds that the TV is not detecting any signal dvr. She calls me for help and find everything is in order. So last resort I reboot the dvr and low and behold when reboot is done we get the cox signal. Well this keeps happening every nighth. So we have to reboot everytime In order to get signal. I guess I will have to replace dvr when wife finished watching all the episodes. Thanks all.
