just curious roughly where you are located?  I'm in oklahoma city, my drops started a couple weeks ago - nearly 3 now - and interestingly they have gotten more stable in the last day.  I changed nothing before the drops and slow downs and haven't changed anything to make it better.

regardless of what i keep hearing about what the problem MIGHT be, it is obvious to me that cox has some issues with their network and they know it because on dslreports issues are being mentioned by users across the country.  Cox readily sees the stats going on for modem drops, requests for connection etc. and maybe the first level support people can't access it I know it exists.  I suspect they try the ignorance and user blame game while they try to solve the bigger problems but its ridiculous . . . if they know they are upgrading or replacing equipment in areas they should just say so.  no, they want to blame the modem, the splitters, your wireless router, the browser...whatever they don't control.

Cox could easily be preventative in resolving these network issues but either they choose not to or are actually working it but keeping the customers and lower levels of support ignorant of the true issues.

I hear you. Down in Phoenix, AZ, I have CenturyLink and Cox running simultaneously. Cox now cuts (no exaggeration) ever 5-10 minutes for 30 seconds or so. I have to choose between the speed of Cox or the reliability of CenturyLink. I left Cox 5 years ago after 7-10 years, then left CenturyLink for the same reason after thinking Cox' quality would change with their new service. Running a DOCSIS 3.0 with a $200 router, and I've verified all cables and such have been checked. I have absolutely no idea what to do now.

I gave up here, going to call support in the morning and open a ticket. Of course this means taking a day out of work, which is not possible for atleast another week, so I guess I'm screwed for the next week. Really wish there was another option in my area, but Cox is the only game in town.

The signal levels being reported by your modem are far out of specification.  I'd say it's definitely time to arrange for a technician to come out and troubleshoot further.

Probably need to have one check the wire from the box to the house...... When cox installed the wire, all they did was lay it under the sod...Didn't even bury it...
