I got the new plan name for Preferred in my bill message, and I live in Kansas. 

Thanks for input! Any change to your speed? Some people are reporting 500/50Mbps.

Thanks. The last update was a year ago so hopefully a new update is incoming. Any official word on the download speed of Preferred upgrading to 500Mbps? Or the increase of upload speed to 1/10th the download?

I am going by the old names until they update the website. However I guess the change is to move away from associating top tier service with 1000Mbps(AKA Gigabit) service. GIGablast for 2Gbps service no longer made sense.

Shouldn't the 2 Gb plan be called "Go Beyond Super Fast"?  The way its named now, the 2 Gb plan would be placed right after the 100 Mb plan "Go Fast."

Who knows what they were thinking. I am just glad we have something to reference now. Also, the upgrade to upload speed is very welcome. Too bad it's not available in all areas yet.

These monikers are dumb.  When I read "Fast" to describe a connection, I think of Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps or 100Base-T)...so these monikers are already dated.

And shouldn't the distinction be about size vs speed?

I never understood why they didn't use Ultimate as their max tier, instead adding on Gigablast. Doesn't ultimate mean the best? It's all advertising lingo to try to make people forget their aren't buying fiber.

Until somebody uses the real ultimate.  Unless it's metric prefixes, words for numbers are ambiguous.  Just use Cox100, Cox250, Cox1000...Cox2000!  We can assign meaning to it.  Boom.  Done.
