If I lower my speed from 1gb to 500 will i notice a big difference in speed ?

It depends. Do you actually get near 1 Gbps? What do you do that needs that speed? Most people probably wouldn't notice much difference.

+1 on what CurtB said. If you are talking about normal web browsing, probably not. The main difference you "may" notice is in upload speed if you do any video streaming for work. The 500Mbps plan ranges from 10-50Mbps upload depending on where you live, while the Gigabit plan ranges from 35-100Mbps. What does a speed test show you?
