IMAP not accessible through cox wifi but is through all other routes

For the past week (January 2023) my iPhone will not connect to Cox email when on Cox wifi. If I turn wifi off, the phone connects. I can also connect through webmail, on any device and on the phone through wifi connects to browser. The problem is exclusively when iPhone is using wifi. The error is "The mail server imap.cox.net is not reponding." It goes on to suggest verifying correct account info, but that is clear since it works in all other configurations.

The always helpful "support," with whom I spent three hours on the phone, in between their hanging up on me, provided the expected suggestions. In order: It's an apple problem; delete and reenter the email account; change the password. None of those work and again, that email is accessible in all other ways suggested none of those were the problem. Their final suggestion was that I use another internet provider, which was quite a suggestion from their own "customer service."

Any (effective) suggestions of how to restore wifi access to imap accounts will be appreciated.

Try this app and see if you can ping imap.cox.net when on Wi-Fi. Also what IP do you get for it? I get

Pinging imap.east.rs.oxcs.net [198.61.137.174] with 32 bytes of data:

Also, do you have any other devices that use Outlook/thunderbird/Macmail/what ever? Any difference wired vs Wi-Fi?

Thanks. Not sure I know what I'm doing, but I entered "imap.cox.net" in the "IP Address to Ping" box on the first task on the app's list, and I get a series of responses from 146.20.147.246

to your other question, I don't have other devices that go between wifi and cellular, however, I have no problems with wifi (other than that it's Cox wifi) with those devices. They all continue to connect to anything I try.

That seems to be a valid IP for Cox's IMAP but it's not the same as what I get. That might be a issue on my end. The fact that you can ping it means your getting a connection to the server so it isn't a routing issue.

Can you use a email client on any of those devices on wifi? Trying to see if the issue is isolated to the Iphone.

Yes, the only problem is on the iPhone mail app, and only on wifi. I use webmail on the other devices (laptops). I can use webmail on the phone, on wifi, and connect

The only way to isolate the issue is to try a email client(like Outlook) on one of your laptops. If that works and the one on your phone does not, it's a Apple issue. If it doesn't work on either device, probably something wrong with their servers. There was just a outage a couple days ago which you might still be effected by.
