High Latency Spikes Causing Issues with Online Gaming

I have been having issues with lag spikes during online games. I was able to do a ping plot to the server that the game is on and found that the second hop is where these spikes originate. I am hard wired to the router and have separate router and modem.

Ping Plot to the game server:

Ping Plot to the suspect hop IP only:

Hi Jedos, are you able to bypss the router and hardwire directly to the modem to see you get different results? -Thanks, Carol

Yes same results with router bypassed. Here is a screenshot. Looks like a faulty or highly congested node.

@Jedos

From what you've posted without the router it doesn't appear this result is actually showing any latency. I understand you may be concerned about hops 4 and 5 however you're reaching the intended destination without latency suggesting that what you're seeing is actually ICMP de-prioritization. Have you tried the online game in question without the router attached?

Chris, I am not sure what part of the most recent results I posted looks different than the original 2. There are definitely lag spikes starting at hop 2 (10.115.0.1) and continuing to the destination. You can see this in both the graph at the bottom and the grey horizontal bars in the top right.

Chris, (or any other mods here) do you have any further input?
