Cox Panoramic Wifi - unable to change wifi details through gateway (192.168.01)

Users (or at least this user) are no longer able to change their wifi name/password through the default gateway website (192.168.0.1) and it now requires users to download the Cox Panoramic Wifi app to edit those details.

This is mildly frustrating as being able to change wifi details through the default gateway is a fairly standard function that most advanced users would expect to exist.

Hello. I understand how removing this feature can be upsetting. However, there are other options besides using the Cox app or Wifi app. You can update the wifi names on cox.com.

To change your WiFi name and password on Cox.com, here are the steps:

Log in to Cox.com.
Click My Account.
Under the "Manage your services & equipment" section, click the Internet icon.
From the Internet page, scroll down to the "Helpful Tools" section, and click the Manage wifi icon.
From the My WiFi customer portal on Cox.com, you can view and change the Wireless Network Name (SSID) and the Wireless Password.

I hope this information is helpful. If there is anything further we can assist with, please let us know.

With respect Julian, the fact that it's possible via the website as well as the apps doesn't really explain why that function has been removed from the gateway direct access.

It is an anti-consumer decision that I assume it's designed to drive more people to download the apps.

The Pananorama WiFi was not designed for advanced users.  It is a cloud based solution intended for customers that want a WiFi that simply just works with as little configuration as possible.  One benefit to it being cloud based is the setting are bound to your account and not the device itself making device swaps as painless as possible.  If you are wanting a solution with more advanced feature, you may be better off utilizing a retail modem/router solution.

ExtraChrispy, logging onto the device to change wifi details like the wifi name and password is not in the realm of 'advanced users'. That is the way that every router has worked since they became commonplace.

We can have our cake and eat it too - there's nothing stopping cox from rolling back the block stopping users from editing their wifi names on the device and also have cloud/app based changes available.

Let me just say, I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you.  It's just that you're potentially missing the point of the device.  It's cloud managed so it's designed to have it's settings configured using a cloud platform.  I'm not sure if you have experience with Unifi at all but it too, does not permit local configuration because it's a cloud managed ecosystem.  I merely suggest that if you want a locally managed solution, Panoramic WiFi is not the best option.
