And who set it up for you? I could give instructions to troubleshoot, but sounds like you might need some help.

What kind of computer do you have? Or more specifically what kind of wireless card? You can find out by
WIndows + R > NCPA.CPL > Right click on "Wireless Network connection" and left click on "Properties". What does it say under "Connect using" along the top.
Also, right click on the same wireless connection, and left click on status. What does it give for "Speed"?
Last, what do you have the wireless network mode set to. Sounds like the PC is only connecting at Wifi G speeds.

Routers are cheap if you know what to buy. I had intermittent slow speeds once upon a time with a stupid Netgear router, replaced it with a ~$30 TP-Link and problems completely vanished. Sometimes hard to track down a router issue, they are notorious for going bad every 2-4 years, that's why I say in previous posts here that they are GROSSLY overpriced. I have a better TP-Link now, but still only runs about 60 bucks. If you are just using a basic home connection, I'd suggest get this one for 20 bucks, I just got one for a friend a month ago and it works GREAT.
