Where Are My PICTURES?

Why has my Cox email account suddenly STOPPED showing any embedded or attached pictures & graphics in my emails? This applies to both incoming & outgoing.

For starters which email system are you using?  By that I mean things like our webmail, windows live mail, outlook etc.

ChrisL, I have been exclusively using Cox's online classic webmail for well over 5 years. Regarding incoming mail, receipt of embedded or attached graphics has ALWAYS been somewhat iffy. I tried the Enhanced webmail, but found it far too clumsy for my everyday use. Sometimes I used to get embedded pictures. Sometimes not, just little boxes with red X's in them. However, on my outgoing sent mail, I could ALWAYS see my attached picture to show me how my recipient would see it.

That stopped a day or two ago, just about the time that enhanced webmail was dropped by Cox. I don't WANT to have to re-download a .jpg (that I just attached via upload) in order to see what went out. Also, I notice that a recent email that I sent to my Cox address has had its little embedded graphic stripped out. When it came to my inbox on Thursday, Nov 1, the graphic was IN the email. I SAW it! That email is still IN my inbox, but the small embedded graphic is now magically disappeared!

Cox classic webmail has always been "bottom of the barrel", but I've stuck with it because I can access it from any computer anywhere, like Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc. On the other hand, those others are TOTALLY UNCONCERNED with the PRIVACY of their clients. I've had a Yahoo address since January 2001, but I rarely use it due to the above mentioned issue. It appears that Cox is busily revamping their whole email system, but of course, without bothering to notify its users in advance. I can't WAIT to see the wonderful changes that 2013 will bring to this shaky platform!

My Cox service is in the Tidewater area of Virginia, i.e., Norfolk, Portsmouth, Va. Beach, Chesapeake, etc.

Well, I can SEE that there will be NO answer to this dilemma. Thanks for so easily dispensing with all those nasty pictures of kids 'n' kittens in my emails!

Embedded pictures has always been a known limitation of the Classic Webmail platform unfortunately.  The solution to this issue would be to use a computer based email client such as Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail, Outlook, etc.
