WDS and WPA

I'm surprised to find my Cisco DPC3825 does not allow WDS with WPA enabled. This is very annoying, as the alternative (WEP or no WiFi security) does not offer any security. This problem has been noted by other providers (eg here: https://community.shaw.ca/thread/2266?start=0&tstart=0 , solution near end of thread). Can Cox please provide a firmware update as well that allows WPA/WPA2 with WDS?

Hi jonasz,

Setting up WDS is actually an advanced function of the router that falls outside of scope of technical support.  We would not be able to perform any troubleshooting in regards to that.  Unfortunately using WEP as a security mode appears to be a limitation of the router itself.  I can check for an updated version of the firmware, but it may not address the issue with the encryption mode available when using WDS.  If you can e-mail me the MAC address of the gateway, send to coxhelp@cox.com, I will see if there are any other versions available.
