Using Remote Control for Soundbar
I can control the volume on my JBL soundbar with the URC8820 remote control, but I cannot power it on or off with the remote control.
I've run the setup for this soundbar using all of the codes for JBL and I did a "Search" with the remote, but still can't power on or off. But, I can control the volume.
Is there something else I can do to program this remote control to power on and off the soundbar?
Thanks...

What option do you have the sound bar programmed on the remote? What steps are you doing when trying to turn it off?

I don't know of any code or programming. However, before someone suggests you plug your soundbar into the switched AC outlet of your cable box, I advise against it.
Plugging your soundbar into the switched outlet could turn on the soundbar when you power your cable box. However, powered speakers, such as subwoofers and soundbars, draw a lot of amps. Perhaps more amps than the cable box can deliver. Perhaps 2-5 times more. This could fry the power supply of a cable box.
Plug any powered speaker into its own AC outlet. Good luck with the codes.

Hi Stephanie A. It's programmed to the AUX button (at least that's where I'm trying to program it). I have the cable box, TV, and DVR also programmed to the respective buttons. To turn it all off, I press and hold the On/Off button as it cycles through and turns everything off. This used to also turn off my old soundbar (AUX), but not this one.
If I press and release the AUX button, then press the On/Off button, nothing happens.
After a little research about the soundbar, I discovered that it could program the remote! Only the volume and mute buttons, though. That must be why I can control those things on the soundbar right now. When I adjust the volume or press the mute button, the AUX button lights up.
Is it possible there isn't a code for this soundbar? Would a newer remote control have more codes available?
Thanks for your help...

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for the heads-up about the AC outlet, I definitely won't be trying that!

Hi Stephanie,
No. I've followed these steps twice and the soundbar does not turn off at any point.
Thanks...

How many codes have you found for your JBL SB400?
I found two at http://www.urcsupport.com/html.php?page_id=629

No, I haven't contacted JBL. I presumed that there should be a way to program the Cox remote to work correctly with this soundbar, just as I've been able to program it for every other device I've had. Is this not possible?
