You hooked up a router to a gateway... did you go in and configure the Nighthawk to act as an AP instead of a router?

Connecting a router to another router can definitely cause NAT problems. As Chris said, the Nighthawk must be setup as an access point for this to work. Really, you want to put the Netgear gateway in bridge mode, if this is even possible using a Cox supplied device. Adding the Nighthawk router in access point mode doesn't solve anything as you still have to go through the router function of the gateway.

From my past experiences, Cox won't let you bridge their gateways. Hence the reason I had to use my Nighthawk in AP mode along with the TG2472 that I had to rent for a few months right after Ultimate was bumped to 300.
