I currently have Premier Plus and wish to upgrade to Ultimate, but I am told a tech needs to come out. Why?
I am currently at 75Mbps and Ultimate is 100Mbps. I have a DOC 3.0 modem Cisco DPQ3212C DOCSIS 3.0. Its basicly brand new. My sign to noise ration is decent. My power level is within range.
How come a tech must come out to do this? I should be able to just make a phone call or go online and request a upgrade. But instead I have to pay $30.00 for an activation fee. and another $60.00 for installation? What exactly will they install? Feels like a huge waste of time and money for something that seems so basic to complete.
I would like some answers on exactly why a tech needs to come out to a situation like I have?

Because with Ultimate your pushing the technical abilities of the technology and signal levels are much more important. The average consumer have no idea about signal levels and DOCSIS standards, so the Professional Installs are probably to improve first time customer satisfaction and return truck rolls.
In the end its Cox's service to sell how ever they want. If you don't like it..don't buy it. That isn't to be insulting, I just mean the best way to vote is with your wallet.
