We've moved many times in the last few years so we've had time warner, cox, FiOS, uverse, and we recently elected to ditch uverse for cox. I like the contour and most of our services but the DVR/on demand in the contour is quite frustrating.
The inability to ffwd past ads in on demand shows, combined with the contour not storing progress in the show is ridiculous. Our first experience went like this:
- found first new xfiles season10 episode (yay that was easy)
- we watched for 35min or so, then our five year old sits on the remote and the channel changes
- no biggie- we have to go all the way back thru on demand, find it, play it, and now we are back at the start, and to get to the unviewed portion, you guessed it, we have to watch all the ads again!!
- have seen this same thing with other shows since
Poorly thought through and this makes on demand TV shows with ads worthless. Fail.

We're glad to have you as a Cox Customer! We upload On Demand content as it's received from the broadcaster. Some shows may contain commercials and do not allow for some features, such as FFW. These restrictions are set by the broadcasters who allow us to offer their shows in our On Demand library. The shows shouldn't be having you start from the beginning when exiting out. Did it give you an option to "resume view" when you selected the show again?
Thank you,

It did not offer that option. Most of the time it does, however, we are so annoyed by the ads ffwd/rewind blocking you have agreed to do that we are done using on demand for TV shows. As I think I said we have not seen this on FiOS, uverse, or twtc.
It seems that if we can get our xfiles shows to record, then we can watch from the DVR and can ffwd/rew through ads fine.
I wonder if you looked at viewing stats how many of your customers use your on demand service for TV shows compared to other providers.

I have the same issue. Rewind 5 or 10 minutes to relook at something and then try to FF to where I was and I can't. I have never received the message to resume. I try not to use on demand unless its a last resort. Netflix or amazon prime first choice because of the ff issue.

We've identified an issue with the "resume viewing" feature in Contour 2. We're currently working to restore this functionality, but at this time there is no workaround. I know this is frustrating, and I apologize! I feel the same way you do about not being able to FFWD through commercials in On Demand. If I get further information about the resume viewing feature, I'll let you know!

Hah this has actually gone downhill. Now .... Xfiles season 10 seems to have disappeared from on demand and upcoming episodes. Maybe milder and Scilly can open a case on why I'm better off buying the DVD set than watching a TV show on TV :) yikes!
