Two DVR issues
I have the 8300DVR box. A couple of times I have set the DVR to record a program that would start in less than an hour or so. It shows it in the DVR list of upcoming recordings and is highlighted in red in the TV guide section. But it doesn't record the program. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there an amount of time recordings must be set before the start time?
Also, if the box is off and recording a program and I turn it on to watch another program, it seems to freeze up, not allowing me to change channels. Just seems odd.

There's no reason why it shouldn't be recording in the first situation. I would suggesting removing the power cord to the box for two minutes and reconnecing it to reset the box and see if that clears up any issues you're having. As for the second situation my first though would be are both tuners recording? If so you'll only be able to watch one of the channels being recorded.

I see no reason why it shouldn't record in the first situation either. But it, in fact, didn't. I have to reset the box at least once a week anyway for a variety of reasons that others on this forum have expressed many, many times.
As for the second situation, I'm not an idiot.

It's possible the box may be just having issues if you have to reset that frequently. You can bring it to a local service center at your convenience for a replacement if you like.
