I just moved to Tulsa and got Cox service and got two cable cards installed. But I am not receiving dozens of channels. When I hit a channel that isn't supposed to exist, I get a message that says "Channel not provided by the Tuning Adapter". But when I go to a channel I am supposed to receive and don't, I don't get that message. The screen is just gray.
The tech installing these said to me that his experience is that Tivo cable cards often don't get many channels they are supposed to. This is rather a rude shock to me and would have influenced my buying decision - obviously it makes no sense for me to be paying for HBO service when there are no HBO channels and if I can't get AMC, TNT, FOOD, HGTV, and many other standard channels, it makes the service less than desirable. I can't even get the Weather channel and we had a tornado warning last night.
Is this really - like the tech said - a common unsolvable problem?

You did not specify which TiVo you have,
But the TiVo Premieres and Roamios, can access every channel Cox provides with the CableCARD and Tuning Adapter correctly Authorized.
So if you have either a Premiere or Roamio, you just need to find a competent tech to troubleshoot Pairing issues, Signal levels, and make sure there is not a frequency trap installed on the line.
