still the old premier speed

Hi

I recently noticed that cox had upgraded the internet speed for premier user from 50m to 100m. However, mine is still peak at 50-60 m/s. I believe I had a 3.0 modem and my router is medialink : http://www.amazon.com/Medialink-Wireless-Router-Repeater-Extender/dp/B0044YU60M/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1414355902&sr=1-1&keywords=medialink+router.

This combo works perfect at the 50m, but I never saw the said 100m/s when I was checking the speed recently.

I was wondering whether it was because my hardware issue or that cox may not covered its upgrade to my neighborhood yet.

By the way I live in Metaire, LA

Thanks

Thanks for your advice, I checked with wire connection today and the speed was 120m/s, I am happy with that.

Well the problem is my router now, can you suggest a router that would guarantee a 100m/s for wifi? I tested my wifi within one meter of the modem today, the distraction should be ignored under that condition but the speed wont exceed 60m/s.

Thanks

This isn't a topic we can speak to specifically however you may want to check out http://www.smallnetbuilder.com.  This is a community driven website with lots of information geared towards home networking.

You want a router with Gigabit wired ports, both WAN & LAN.  If your budget can afford it, I recommend a dual band, 802.11ac router.  The 5GHz band is much less crowded (less interference) and most tablets & cell phones today support it & the ac WiFi standard.  Other than that, as ChrisL recommends, check out smallnetbuilder.com and the user reviews on sites like Amazon and Newegg.
