I noticed that the price of HSI is going up next month in the San Diego area, yet several other Cox markets are getting speed increases without accompanying price increases.
Is San Diego getting the shaft on this - a price increase with no speed increase? Or is a speed increase around the corner but not announced yet for some reason?
U-Verse is looking pretty good right now, gotta be honest. And here is picture of an airplane.

Understandable that you can't comment on that directly, but I hear ya, and I'm glad to hear that it's at least likely. I guess I'm just a little perplexed by the wording of "increased costs of business" on something that I suspect costs less to provide each year. I'm sure Cox is just trying to make a few extra bucks, but I would have thought doing the price increase at the same time as the speed increase would have made for happier customers.

I'm glad you're enjoying your regular raises Chris. Unfortunately many of you customers are not so lucky in todays economy so to arrogantly assume that increased cost can be passed on to the customer no questions asked is probably not going to make you (and Cox) any friends here. Also, any 'upgrades' Cox assumes I want are not things I want to pay for. I for one am shopping around for alternatives based on this monopolistic attitude.

At least there was in fact a speed increase to go along with the price increase. In effect, Cox removed the Internet Preferred tier and moved everyone who was on Preferred to the speed and price of Premier, while creating a new speed and price tier for customers on the Premier tier.
Ultimate customers did ok in the bargain, getting increased speeds without a price increase. So good on Cox for that, at least (and for making upload speeds more tolerable across the board - 2mbps on Preferred and Premier was insulting, and 5mpbs upload on $100/mo service was just a gouge).
I was able to get Cox to revert me back to the pre-increase price, with a 2-year contract and a relatively small ETF. I'd suggest this to anyone who's reading this and really just wants to go back to the prior pricing. Give them a call and complain. Works wonders.
