My mother has one of those new mini-boxes required by Cox to receive a digital picture. The box is very sensitive and the sound will go off for no reason. Today the sound turned off just by touching the remote (and it was not the mute button). Cox doesn't know how to help us. The mini-box has been a pain and unreliable. Is there a simple fix?

The sound went off by touching the remote? Was it the buttons or just the plastic? Does it happen if you remove the batteries?
Also, how do you have the box connected to your TV? Normal TV, no surround sound system?

We had this same issue with a new mini box and ended up getting both the Main DVR 6 box and the mini replaced. The tech said if there are older cards in the boxes they don't work properly with sound or searching for programs in the guide.

We've replied to a forum post about your trouble with playback between the receiver and the 6 tuner DVR. The Mini Box doesn't sync with the Host Contour DVR 6 tuner, unless you're referring to the Client HD receiver. Do you have a Whole Home Contour DVR 6 tuner, a client box, and a mini box? Can you share the model of the particular equipment?
