When you lose connection do you notice a change in the lights on the front of the modem? Do you also have a router or do you connect directly to the modem?
Hi - There is a change in the modem lights sometimes. Many times the two phone line lights are blinking, the rest are solid. The Modem device is from Cox, and it is also the Wifi router. I connect directly to it, with no devices in between, using wifi.
Here is the interesting part...over the last nine years, I've lived in 2 other places in Las Vegas and have not had this trouble. When I moved here it started. I believe that it has something to do with the connections to this location. Here's why...
This is my fiance's house. We decided to move in together into this house when we engaged. However, before that, I always had trouble with her internet connection. So, when I move in, I disconnected her service, and moved all of my equipment here. Now, I am having the same trouble. I notice that it is slower and MUCH less reliable.
It is getting very frustrating. To the point where I want to look at alternatives.
BTW, I noticed that there is another device on my network that I do not recognize named REDSKYWALKER. Anybody know what this is? Is it a Cox thing?
Thanks for your help.
Oh, and additionally...when someone asked me to send my full name, address, and PIN via email, I am very skeptical. Is that message above legitimately from a Cox representative?

It's legit. If a Cox forum moderator cannot locate your Cox Account via your forum username, then they'll ask you for that information to link the two together.

What kind of modem is it? I've been using my Motorola SB6141 for over a year now and have only had to reset it a few times.
