problems with sending cox email

I receive the following message when trying to send email from my iPhone 5s. I can receive email fine however I cannot send it is stuck in the outbox. "The recipient "jdoe@xxxx.com" was rejected by the server because the user is unknown". It happens for every email address having any domain. Has anyone encountered this and fixed it?

Can you provide the full error message you get?  Does this happen if you try to send from Webmail or from a computer?

Were you trying to send a email to a Cox employee? If not, that is your problem. Cox.com is their corporate domain used for employee email. Cox.net is for customers. Can you send a email to yourself? If not, can you post the error verbatim? 

Also, are you using a Iphone or Apple email client? If so, there are others that have the same problem, even with different email providers. The solution is to delete the settings for outgoing email and re-enter them.
