There are lots of methods to secure your network.  Change the default username, password and IP address of your router...create a strong encryption key so outsiders only see gibberish...enable MAC Address Filtering...set your router to not broadcast your network name...turn off remote access features...create a personal login(s) on your computer...rename the Guest and Administrator accounts.

The manufacturer of your router would have tips and instructions on their website.

You would want to setup a password or more specifically a WPA key to but the normal level of security for the router. We can give more specific steps but do you know the brand of router?
