Poor quality DVR recordings on Natgeo and Fx

When I play back any DVR recording from the National Geographic channel or Fx, the picture looks like it is missing pixels and is unwatcheable(that's the best way I can describe it). All other channel recordings are fine? Anybody else have a similar problem?
