Phone does not work

My telephone has no dial tone and the modem has no lights showing.  What do I do?

Please check to make sure you have power going to the device. Check the power outlet by plugging something else into it like a lamp. If there is no power to the outlet, check your circuit breakers in the house, If you are on a power strip make sure it is on. If the power outlet is controlled by a light switch, make sure it is on.
